to help prepare me for my studies of Veterinary Medicine. I take special interest in internal medicine, surgery, ophthalmology and dermatology
Dr. Jackelyn Kearney
I’m a native Phoenician - born and raised in Glendale (just like Arrow Animal Hospital - the very first AZPetVet location).
I earned my undergraduate degree in Biology at Colorado State University, followed by vet school at Midwestern University in Glendale - and I’m proud to say I just earned my DVM!
While I’m a new veterinarian, I’ve been a veterinary assistant at AZPetVet Arrowhead Ranch since 2011, so it’s fair to say I’ve learned a lot along the way. I’ve been a member of the Midwestern Shelter Medicine Team since 2015, providing spaying and neutering for shelter pets.
I’m really interested in pain management, anesthesiology, soft tissue surgery, dentistry, hospice care and feline medicine.
My husband Shea is also a native Arizonan. He’s a firefighter in Gilbert. We have two dogs, Holly (border collie mix) and Osha (pitbull mix). Shea and I stay active chasing the dogs, going rock climbing, backpacking and kayaking. I love to cook and make time for yoga to wind down.
While I’ve been a member of the AZPetVet family for years, I’m excited to meet this branch of the family - especially all of the wonderful, goofy fur balls - they always keep me smiling.
Dr. Jennifer Starkel
I'm from a small town in Connecticut. I received my Bachelor of Animal Science from the University of New Hampshire in 2001, then my Doctorate of Veterinary
Medicine from the University of Missouri in 2005.
I enjoy spending free time with my husband and our two energetic sons, as well as our four-legged furry babies. We also like to visit family and friends in the Midwest and New England when we can. When I can find some alone time, I love to read and run (aside from chasing around those energetic boys).
Dr. John Samuelson

He is married to college sweetheart Jody. They currently reside with their two dogs, Gonzo the bullmastiff and Wally a boston terrier mix. In the summertime their Sonoran Desert tortoise comes out of hiding. Dr. Samuelson enjoys trail running, fly fishing and escaping the summer heat into the White Mountains.
